What UCCS handles, and where you come in

UCCS reviews every site, drafts the Affiliation Agreement and preceptor letter, tracks your compliance in Medatrax and sends a site visitor partway through each course. It will not hand out its list of contracted sites, and its program pages leave the search to the student in the state where they live.

Covering that gap is why we exist. For every rotation from NURS 6730 to Synthesis, we find a clinician who fits and collect the credentials, license, certification and signer details the site sheet calls for. The college decides; our part is a sheet that arrives finished and matches UCCS's rules on the first pass.

No hour counts until the contract and the preceptor letter are signed and UCCS says you are good to go.

Does UCCS find preceptors for NP students?

UCCS approves sites and signs agreements, but its program pages put the search on the student where they reside, and it will not share its list of contracted sites. We run that search alongside you. See finding your own preceptor.

Which states can UCCS NP students live in?

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming, and all clinical hours happen in your state. The approved states guide covers the rule.

How early should I start?

UCCS says 3 to 6 months before the course, and its handbook asks for the Clinical Site Sheet earlier than the semester before when possible. A new agreement can take 6 to 8 weeks or longer. Our lead-time guide maps it out.

What do we actually do for UCCS students?

We look for clinicians and sites close to home that match your UCCS rotation, pull together the credentials, license and signer details the Clinical Site Sheet needs, and keep a backup lined up in case a preceptor withdraws. Details are on the process page.

Who has the final say on a preceptor we find?

UCCS. The college reviews the site, writes the Affiliation Agreement and preceptor letter, and emails you once you are good to go. A finished site sheet keeps that moving. See the Clinical Site Sheet.
